2022 - Moorebank Logistics Park has been awarded an Excellent” Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating (for Design) from the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA).
The intent was to create a state-of-the-art intermodal port nestled within a high-tech industry precinct unlike any other in the Southern Hemisphere. The key objective was to break the traditional thought of intermodal developments being cost centres and instead drive high value commercial outcomes through co-location of core industry occupants incentivised by reduced supply chain overheads and time to market efficiency.
Utilising research created in conjunction with its U.K. office, Reid Campbell implemented its “Freight Village” product as the backbone of the master planning vision. When Qube Holdings took on the development entirely, it retained Reid Campbell as the lead master planning consultant to further refine the “Freight Village” concept for the site and advise on an expansion to include additional land owned by the Federal Government to be co-developed and operated by Qube under a master development agreement.
Reid Campbell remains engaged as lead master planning and architectural consultant and has worked closely with Qube and other project stakeholders to navigate through complex planning pathways with all tiers of government – in particular the State Government as part of its combined employment lands growth and transport integration strategies.
Through a staged State Government approval process, the circa 400 Ha precinct will include rail infrastructure connecting the site to the Southern Sydney Freight Line, an IMEX Terminal (port shuttle freight rail access direct to Port Botany), an Interstate Terminal (servicing interstate freight rail movements), approximately 1.2million square meters of net lettable building area for logistics industry and commercial occupants, as well as ancillary “Freight Village” precinct support facilities such as standalone offices, convenience retail, short stay accommodation, and maintenance.
Moorebank Logistics Park will aim to be a leader in innovation and excellence through the integration of automated goods delivery throughout the precinct and environmentally sustainable design and operations initiatives.
Reid Campbell commenced the design of bespoke and automated distribution facilities for third party tenants interested in the precinct.
