Although a significant gateway into Sydney's CBD, the 40 storey Pacific Power building occupied by government departments, had developed an unfriendly persona in the last decade.
The new owners' long-term objective was to reposition the building as a prestigious location, within the CBD property market, for private enterprise tenants. The brief was therefore to change the personality of the building by designing a new podium, forecourt and foyer.
Executives of Reid Campbell worked on the refurbishment of the lobby, which included glazing to the foyer level - which has turned the lobby into one of Sydney's grandest, offering views of the surrounding precinct and outstanding views of the adjacent Hyde Park.
A new covered food court was added on the northern plaza level and a café pavillion on Park Street. Designed to compliment the architectural elements of the original building, our successful refurbishment of this building have given it a new personality and turned the site into a hub of activity.
